Madeleine Van Booy reacts to her toy being broken. Her Father, Simon Van Booy, has just finished writing an op-ed about the difficulties of raising a child as a young widower. He tries to fix her toy inside of the Charles De Gaulle airport.(for The London Times).
  
Ahmed Omar has been living in his apartment for 11 years, after moving to Dubai from his native Sudan. The housing complex is one of the few left in the city for low income workers. He was told on June 30th to vacate his apartment by mid-july. He is seen here in his building's hallway.

Daniel Rouxel is the son of a German Nazi officer and a French woman. After growing up in a small French town full of shame because his Father had been a Nazi,  Mr. Rouxel came to grips with his identity and is now the first of what is estimated to be 300,000 of these children to apply for German citizenship. By doing so Mr. Rouxel is taking the first step to heal wounds that have still not bene adressed in France since the end of WWII. Here he is next to his house in Le Mans, France (for The National).
  
  
 "I've been going out to canvass and almost everyone has assumed I'm here with Hillary" said Mrs. Susan Allen, a life long Republican who drove to Gary, Indiana from Wisconsin to help Sen. Obama in the state's upcoming primary. "I haven't seen anything like this since Bobby (Kennedy) ran for office, its truly wonderful the way the younger generation has been engaged".
     
  
A commander of PJAK, a communist guerilla group which uses mountains in Iraq as a base, picks up an unnamed object. Their goal is to create an independent Kurdish state. The Kurds cannot decide what to think of them: on one hand many view them as fighting valiantly for indepence from their opressors, on the other hand, they are seen as a group of reckless soldiers carelessly warring with Iran.

Kevin, 16 years old, drove from Gary, Indiana to Minneapolis to sell Barack Obama t-shirts. While clearly profiting from his speech, Kevin also expressed a desire to be involved in this historic election and claims that selling these shirts is the only way he can afford to travel in hopes of seeing and hearing the Senator.
